Winter Field Day 2024 – Update

Hi MOARC members!

Winter Field Day is less than a week away! Here’s what you need to know:

  • Meet at the Clark Mills VFD at 11am for station setup. Address: 7700 Main Street, Clark Mills
  • WFD operations begin at 2pm on Saturday and run until 1:59 Sunday.
  • Come as early as you like and stay as long as you like. Bring a friend!
  • A delicious taco place (Deli Taco) is just down the street.
  • Coffee, tea, and water will be available onsite.
  • Pastries from the Waterville Standard Bakery will be available Sunday morning!

Operating Info

  • We will be class I – Indoor
  • Modes: SSB, CW (aka Jordan), digital and hopefully satellite capabilities, plus whatever else we can muster up.
  • 9 Bands or Bust: The goal is to make at least one contact on 80m,40m,10m,15m,10m,6m,2m,1.25m, and 70cm bands.
  • Two operating locations – one inside the FD with heat, and one in a garage adjacent to a large field (will also have a portable heater.)
  • The weather is looking decent, but it will be cold. Be sure to bring winter hats, gloves, and whatever else you need to keep warm.
  • We will have at least 3 antennas between both locations; you can BYO radio or just use what we have.
  • Given limited space we will not be setting up one antenna per person, instead, we’ll focus on each person taking a shift on a particular station.

Contact me if you have questions, otherwise, we’ll see you there!

Winter Field Day 2024

This year Winter Field Day is January 27 – 28, 2024. Each year it is held on the last weekend of January. The rules are similar to regular field day, but the best place for that information isn’t here. It is best found at this site Winter Field Day. Feel free to register your club or yourself as an individual operator at a location on the website.

You don’t need to operate the entire weekend and can operate from your home QTH (location) if you want. We hope you can make contact with us and we can log each other. It is also a good opportunity to be prepared for unusual circumstances when working outdoors and with weather changes that follow that time of the year.
